FORM NAME MEANING

Il Jang Heaven/Light…heaven gives us rain and light which all things need to survive on earth. Keon is the beginning of all things on Earth.

Ee Jang Cheer/Happiness…a person filled with happiness displays inner strength as well as calm and balance. Actions are gentle but executed with force.

Som Jang Fire/Sun…fire provides warmth and light, building confidence but also awakens passion, fear, and panic. Actions are varied and performed with passion.

Sa Jang Thunder/Lightning…great power, objects of fear and trembling. Movements suggest that we act calmly and bravely in the face of danger. Movements are quick and powerful.

Oh Jang Wind…a gentle force by nature. It suggests the humble state of mind and expresses repetitive good natured actions. Sometimes gentle as a breeze, sometimes forceful as a storm.

Yook Jang Water…Flowing, overcoming, formless. Never loses it nature. It teaches us that we can overcome difficulties and hardship if we go forward with self-confidence.

Chil Jang Mountain Top/Summit…permanent, unmovable. Standing firm against adversity. Do not act in a hasty manner. We should stop when we should, go forward on the path of right action when we should.

Pal Jang Earth…source of all life. The creative power of heaven is embodied in the earth.

Koryo Korea/Scholar…the name of the ancient kingdom that later became the national symbol of Korea. A very important period in early Korean history (918-1392). The (+) and (-) trace of the movements symbolize mathematics, thus the scholar.

Keum Gang Diamond…too strong to be broken. Tae Bok mountain region on the Keum Gang San peninsula. Strong mental power, wisdom, virtue, beautiful but hard movements.

Tae Baek Mountain…Baek Do mountain.. the symbol of Korea. Symbolizes the great ambition and ideals of the Korean people. Movements performed quickly but with strength, determination, and precision.

Pyongwon Plain…symbolizes fields and rivers, which represent truth and purity.

Sip Jin Decimal…Sip means the perfect situation, Jin means progress or to go forward. Sip Jin is a numerical concept. To go ahead in the correct direction.

Jitae Earth…nature is unlimited and endless. The wise man observes natures treasures. Jitae comes from the changes in life, earth, and space.

Cheonkwon Sky…the sky is the fundamental part of the existence of all things in the unive rse. The origin of creation. In Cheonkwon can be found the principal of the regeneration of the celestial power.

Hansoo Water…Hansoo represents the properties of water and the rivers of the earth.

Ilyo Oneness…from the Buddhist thought that body and spirit become one when one acquires the realization of the universal truth through the cultivation of the moral sense, which leads to nirvana or enlightenment.
